Salif Fest

Every September we take a day to remember and celebrate Salif and his generous spirit, and everybody attending and contributing is doing this freely and with their heart. Nobody is paid and it is running completely on whatever attendees are able to contribute. This is very important to us and we very much appreciate everybody, who donates a bit of themselves with equal value of all contributors.

Alanouwoly Salifou Sylla is about cultural exchange and getting people together, absolutely everybody is welcome and there are limited performance slots for any style of music.
Musicians and Dancers donate their expertise and time to run workshops in African drumming and dance. We have a children's play-area and there are many volunteers cooking african food and home-made cakes for all of us with a sweet tooth. We are always trying to bring new people and groups to share music food and fun with us.

We want Salif Fest to be a Community Festival where people from all backgrounds, cultures, abilities and ages can be together and create warm friendship and understanding of each other and their culture through music and celebration. Understanding and Fun creates Harmony! Contact us if you need any more info.

Anniversary Commemoration in Africa

Every spring our members in Guinea organise a religious sacrifice in Guinea and Gambia for Salif and now also his brother Ousmane. This is the custom in Muslim areas of West-Africa amd is counterpoint to our non-relious Salif Fest, where people also sacrifice a bit of themselves.
It is understood as honouring the unifying and generous spirit of Salif and his brother Ousmane and reminds people to work together and be generous and true. Huge amounts of food are cooked and people pray for them and everyone contributes towards the cost. Alanouwoly does not pay for any of this.
Salif Fest is our own very different version of this African Custom. Contact us if you want to know more.
